A handful of items not really required by my course, more just following personal whims and getting some decent practice in on the side.
On the left is an improved version of the chair base I had trouble with on the Desk and Chair piece. Looks a lot better now, and prompted my Layout prof, himself a professional layout artist, to state, "Wow, you're more ambitious than I am."
On the right is a chair design that I might use in the project that's due this weekend. I needed a chair that would work on hardwood floor with a rug on it, and this seems to fit the bill pretty well. Not 100% sure at this point, though.
Finally, the bottom is just a file cabinet handle that I had an inspiration for, and wanted to see if I could pull off. Apparently I did, more or less. I learned a bunch doing it, in any case.

Oh, I do drills too. I did a half hour this afternoon just drawing circles, which I really should be doing every day. I've got a bunch to do this weekend, what with layout due Monday night (that's what the desk shots are for), character design mid-eval on Monday morning, and Life Drawing due on Wednesday night. To say nothing of having my research essay outline submitted by noon on Wednesday, it's a little busy.
I need to do more drills myself. I've got a pencil case hanging from the chicken handle in my Jeep (the grab bar above the glove box) and the 'seat backpack' on the passenger side is filled with cheap blank sketchbooks to practice in. The supplies are always there, but I pull them out less often than I should.
Usually they come out during breaks and lunch at work, when I'm between paperbacks, when I'll sit in the car and either stare at the blank page, or else try a headshot of a friend from memory.
