No but I can guarantee by the sound and that huge cowl hood a 572 was stuffed between the fenders.

You had it right the first time. This is an Americanized Holden Manaro CV8, and yes Australia does have a Holden HSV GTO version of this coupe also.

I used to watch the V8 Supercars races on the 'net, spectacular stuff :) I was very pleased when they brought the Monaro over but I tihnk everyone knew it was not gonna last....

Now Holden is effectively belly up too, sigh...

they should have never tried to bring it back. it should have stayed in the 70's.

I disagree, though the character and $$$ of racing has changed since the 70's, it's still damn fun to watch. OZ racing is a lot more aggressive than US, not to mention when's the last time a 'roo went bounding over the cars at Talladega? :D

i wasn't taking about racing, i was talking about the car's name plate, GTO, it should have stayed in the 70's since they have no business modernizing a car that never even saw the 80's and 90's like the Mustang, Camaro, and Corvette all did and are still here today, even the Charger and Challenger never saw the 80's or 90's and GM still got them to be perfect for modern US roads and even got the true muscle car performance that made them awesome back in the 60's and 70's.

the GTO could have been one of them, if GM Pontiac had done their research first and foremost listened to the people where going to buy the car.

That hood scoop has got to go badly! And that red one behind it looks more awesome than the ulgy black one with that horrid hood scoop.

From the sound of the car as it went by I think he did a 572 big block swap and I think that may be the reason for the extra large cowl.

Oh dear...

If you have a highrise intake manifold you need a tall cowl for it to fit. Form follows function.
