The pose in the example is one I think would suit the image well and take advantage of the lighting and composition, I am most confident with painting dragons at this time so this is the direction I would prefer to go in. That said I am willing to change things up, draw characters in the foreground or much smaller etc...

A heavily scaled dragon at £50 will have a few implied scales and the most notable ones, the same dragon at £150 will have all scales drawn and shaded in full.
