This is, what, your third trip, and you caught tornados on the last two? You're doing good!

This is the same one from last week, I jut didn't post it here until this morning.

Quite a few. But modern technology, social media in particular, has made it easier for many people to just follow other chasers. It leads to congestion on rural roads and is a source of frustration for those of us that put in the effort to forecast.

So, your forecasting did good?

I was in Carroll, a town about 5 miles southwest of where it touched down, hours before the storm even formed. That was not an accident.

Wow, tornado chasing. Are all of you chasers adrenaline junkies? You seem to get a kick out of this.

No. I don't get much of an adrenaline rush from it. Normally I stay in a safe position far enough away that I can observe without fearing for my safety.

Yeah. A lot of people think of chasing as an extreme sport. That's precisely the wrong way to think about it; it's a hobby that requires a great deal of care, patience, and dedication. It also can easily verge into the realm of amateur science, if you aren't one of the meteorologists getting paid to do the gig.

And decent storm chasers will also stop to assist if the tornado hits a populated area. So, community service, too.

Takes me back to when I was a kid and was actually thinking of a career of stormchasing. ^^

This was May 10th of this year. Western Iowa.

Nothing like the rush of seeing a Tornado form and touch down. The chase is on!

chasing twisters is something i definitely want to do some time :D
As a child my parents drove down into a rain wrapped twister, the car was about 80ft from the twister, couldn't see a thing but we heard and felt it (EF1/weak EF2)
then again, nobody in Europe does know what to do with a twister, most believe they don't happen, so cant blame them :P
