When using oil clay, put it in the freezer. This makes the clay harder and easier to carve your details cleanly.

Will be molding these babies this weekend, should be available soon...

Oooh, thanks for the tip! When I sculpt I always get to a point where I love it and want it to instantly harden before I continue work, else I screw it up. Now I may get my wish! Do you use monster clay?

I use Chavant clay. But they are both oil clays. Monster clay just had a lower heat point than Chavant.

Obviously you carved these out of chocolate ice cream and now cannot remove them from the freezer. What once sounded like such a delicious idea has now turned into shame and regret. Valar morghulis.

You can also use the air cans for cleaning off debris and if you are careful, turn the cans upside down and use to re freeze parts of the sculpture... Watched a stan Winston studio master carver.

I do that for quick sculpting! Torch and air cans are the best thing ever.
