It’s ink on Bristol. I’m nowhere skilled enough yet to use a sumi brush for the amount of control I like, so I mainly use brush pens (like Microns or Faber-Castells).

Kitsune. It literally says Fox.

Weird. When I google it, I get a different symbol in both Japanese and chinese...

Try looking for "fox kanji". The Japanese have three distinct alphabets. Also, much like our own written language there is more then one style in which you can write it in.

Out of curiosity, could I get your permission to (possibly) get this tattooed on myself? No guarantee that I would, but it would definitely be on my list to get inked with something like this. :)

It's always a great complement to say "I want your art tattooed on my body". I've made a number of pieces that have later become someone's tattoo or were commission specifically for tattoos.
My only request to those who would like to get my work tattooed is: if someone asks who created the original art you let them know it was me and to please send me a photo of the finished tattoo.

BTW The Fur who got the original of this piece at last years Anthrocon artshow got it tattooed on his back.
