Thanks. It's not as good as someone who could actually draw would have done, but I try; I used a cooling filter at 10% density and futzed around with the Shape tool until I made a half-decent shadow from an Ellipse and a Drop Shadow.

Oh yeah! You can never stretch that enoguh how important shading is. It made it much better.

Hah thanks! I didn't expect anyone to put in a background, I was just asking for tips because I messed up my layers =p.

But thanks anyway. Looks good. And I guess with bulk like that, he doesn't need a coat to get through the cold snow.

(chuckle) It's a family thing: If it's hard, complicated or both, we want to do it. And really, it was the first background I could find that fit him; I can try again if you want.

Yes. That shadow beneath the corpulent canid's belly had made all the difference in your updated image. I was going to question your usage of a wintry backdrop, but I'd figured that all that whitish-gray behind him easily sets off his red, white, and blue garments and his massive white midsection. Nice work!

I like how the trees,bending together over his head,seem to imply a tunnel..or an archway :)
