There was a Marvel/DC crossover years ago, where the different characters first fought each other, and then teamed up to protect their universes. Superman for a brief time wielded both Cap's Mighty Shield and Thor's Mjolnir.

This then led to the Amalgam Universe, where various characters were fused together, like Wolverine/Batman into someone whose name I can't remember, or Lobo and Howard the Duck into Lobo the Duck.
It was all very stupid.
