As I've been told you since January, my old, cheap, ugly and overused but beloved Genius 8x6 Mouse Pen was dying. When I tried to draw, it failed a lot of times, and eventually becomes impossible to work with it. So I have been working here and there, and lately got some money to buy a new one. A "better" one. A Wacom.
This is not the first time I used a Wacom. In my university I had used small Bamboo'es, medium Intuos and even a huge, impressive, and beautiful, US$2000 Cintiq 22HD. Wacom is the worldwide state-of-the-art about Graphics Tablets, so it has to be quite good, right? Well... for some reason... I never felt comfortable with one of those high-tech digital things. I always preferred to use my old-fashioned and mechanic-spring genius tablet. Oh right, it also needs an AAA baterry. It was awful. It was old. It didn't have the performance of a Wacom. But it felt perfect for me. I enjoyed it during seven years. I learned a lot with it. I did my thesis with it. I got a lot of jobs thanks to it. I did a lot of doodles with it. Now, seven years later, I have a lot of things to thank to my first tablet, and I will miss it.
So... I bought a new tablet, the Wacom Intuos CTL480L. I wanted another genius 8x6 at first, but I think I need to update/upgrade myself a little, and since everybody thinks Genius is cheap crap, so everywhere has Wacom (Workplaces, studios, universities and every place I can find a job), I need to learn how to handle them.
I'm not a hipster. I don't want a supernintendo. I don't like Macintosh. I want a PS4. I preffer Windows. It's just I feel more comfortable with a low-spec genius, I find a little bit hard to connect with Wacom, so that's why I'm doing drama.
But meh. Whatevs. I will gonna' learn how to draw with a Wacom, and become a better artist/designer with it.
So, goodbye Genius 8x6, thanks for everything during these long seven years. I salute you!
And hello Wacom Intuos, we have a lot to learn. Ohm... Ohm...
