Boomerrang is one of the Green sea turtles that live at the Sea Life Aquarium in Grapevine Texas. She is super sweet and loves people. Here one of her keepers was doing a talk about turtles and she was enjoying some good scratches. Sadly She will never be released into the wild because of her injuries from a boat a few years ago. Sorry about the net in the way. Because turtles can bite and to keep them safe they hung a net over the tank. Boomer is my favorite turtle here and loves to play peek-a-boo with the guests that come in.
What is Bubble butt in sea turtles you ask? ‘Bubble Butt Syndrome’, this is where they have a large body of gas trapped under their carapace due to a bacterial infection that fermented gases after a propellor wound injury. It has made a pronounced deformation in the rear of their carapace, giving them the big ‘butt’ appearance. What they do at the aquarium to help with this is glue a large weight to their shells to help balance them out.
