When Solaris was very young, her father, Sultan R'oq helped establish democracy in his land. He believed that this was the best course of action for his people. However, being a comparitively young leader, this noble Magcargo was equal parts noblesse oblige and naivete. He believed that this new democracy would still care for the one that gave it freedom. Instead, the royal family became exiles. Thankfully, Orre was sympathetic and took the R'oqs in as refugees.
Solaris, even being a refugee, was still an only child (Magcargo and Solrock pairings do not usually produce offspring) and a princess. And no one has been able to convince her otherwise. The sultan claims that she is his most precious jewel and has spoiled her accordingly.
Her family, endowed with private Veilstone accounts and investments not able to be confiscated by the R'oqs former nation, weren't able to afford palaces but certainly lived in comfort. And when it came time for Solaris to go to school, money was never an issue. Nothing but the best for Princess Solaris. And so she was sent to PCA.
It didn't take long for Solaris to fit in with the other rich kids, the materialistic crowd liked having someone as wealthy as the R'oqs amongst them. And the followers found it easy to follow someone so noble, even if she was only "former" royalty.
Being a more than compotent fighter, Solaris was quickly picked up on team her freshman year. But she wasn't the leader and so Team SolForce was formed, with her at the head, not long after. As one might expect. Technically formed by the school, the selection of such strong teammates as Aries and Scimitar, however, was no coincidence. Unfortunately, the forth team position has always acted as a revolving door. Whether because they'd leave due to Solaris' attitude or because of "accidents" during practice, caused by Aries, when Solaris didn't like them (or liked them too much ;), no one has ever stayed for very long.
At the beginning of her Junior year it was her desire to pick-up the new hotshot, L.T. Magnivus, whose father has business relations with the sultan. But he declined, and there's nothing Solaris wants more than what she can't have. Worse, his refusal to join, forced Team Solforce to take in an underclassman as their fourth. Sure, it was Wu-Shu, Scimitar's little brother and one of the star fighters of his class, but seriously, an underclassman? Ugh!
She might have inherited her father's stature, vigor, and Recover, but not his noblesse oblige. Or his empathetic awareness. Solaris has no idea that Aries has been pining for her for three years now. As long as he does as he's told though, she'll never be without him. Princesses need servants...
