This is the result of my very first paid commission!
bjorngrafeldr has a kind of Indiana Jones thing going on, so you hear the bear bustling around in the library to start with, until he finds a clue. Oh dear, a clooooooo. That must mean, yes, we're off on the chase! And of course we wind up in god knows where, but at least it's enticingly mysterious...

But yes, I don't go with the school of Complexity==Quality. It's all in what's demanded by the piece.
It also helps to have an excited patron at hand. Bjorn told me exactly what he wanted with the character, and I did what I could to capture the essence in music.

Heh, Bjorn has this Indiana Jones thing going on, so I had the rushing chase scene skid to a halt in some exotic marketplace - and I left it as a cliffhanger.
If it were anyone else, I wouldn't pull that trick. But this character NEEDS that cliffhanger. That's what will keep him going and gnawing late at night and ever searching for one more find.....

Thanks for the tip. I'll have to start raising the numbers on the defaults for "forte," "piano," etc. in Finale. They do tend to set them a little low in order to enhance the contrast from loud to soft, but I don't really NEED to go all the way from 128 to 0, I can use the top half or top third and still be just as effective in practical dynamic contrast.
