I can't remember who said that, but it rings true here. Chucky has a whole world going on around him in these comics, but it's only at times like this that he, and we readers along with him, realise that the other characters do too. Merry's 'sudden' departure wasn't sudden at all. Poor Chucky, but poor Merry too. She must have had SO much on her plate, dealing with all that and not sharing it with a single one of her friends.
