Concept art for Hogo Inoshishi, the battle companion, lover and eventually husband of Hotaru, Ninetails' ancestor.

Hogo is a very lighthearted boar. He loves battle, he loves eating and he loooooves Hotaru. After meeting as young kids, Hogo made a vow to protect Hotaru as his bodyguard and as the years passed by, the two grew inseparable. They got married and enjoyed traveling the demon world in order to help maintain balance and peace. When Hotaru was eventually struck down by the hellspawn Jingokutaishi, Hogo saw to his final wishes, traveled to Hotaru's resting place and killed himself in order to join and protect his beloved in the afterlife.

Since, unlike Hotaru and Ninetails, Hogo is NOT a previous life of Mamoru's, I decided to try and do something different for him. For starters, he's a different type of boar, being a Formosan Boar while Mamoru is a Razorback. I also gave his head a different shape and his body is a lot buffer and stronger Also, his tusks are at the front of his mouth instead of the back. With those and other changes, I think I did a good enough job making them different.

He has no overt magical powers, just formidable brute strength. Hotaru did teach him how to channel his demonic powers in order to perform energy blasts, but he prefers to use his power to enhance his punches and kicks.
