There is no such thing as release without harm. While diving I have seen for myself what kinds of wounds hooks cause to the sharks. And even when the damage is little enough so they don't die of blood loss or disablement, then stress and exhaustion kills more then a few and some are eaten by other sharks shortly after their release since the whole process makes them unable to flee or defend themselves for at least some hours.
