Has it really been nearly half a year since I posted any original music? I tend to jump between projects, but recently I've had a burst of inspiration for music writing and I've come up with a couple of things that I really like the sound of so far. A couple of them are quite near completion, most are just scraps - this upload has low-quality 45-second samples from four of them.
In order - and these are the four songs that I'm relatively sure will keep the titles they currently have assigned:
Unreality (First verse and bridge)
This Corruption (Bridge, chorus, start of solo)
One Perfect Soul (Introduction)
The Truth (Entire bridge and chorus)
I think that even though I still use electronic instruments here, starting to learn the guitar for myself has taught me more about writing for it and has opened up a lot of new ideas to me. I also have a couple of new instruments - mostly drum samples - that will hopefully give this 'album' a distinct new sound.
Let me know if I'm going in the right direction!

Good heavens, these are nothing short of incredible. At this rate, this may very well be your best album yet.
The snippet of the solo from This Corruption gave me a sort of Etrian Odyssey vibe (at least the general style sort of sounded like some of its PC88-inspired goodness, like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxYqhU_YNKQ for example. And I got a bit of a Mega Man vibe from The Truth. And both just make their respective songs that much better, of course, with me being such a retro fanatic and all.

I was just saying yesterday that good melodic metal should have something of a retro-game feel to it :) So thanks for mentioning that - I just need spurred on to get any of these finished!
those all sound really amazing, and I can't wait to hear them finished ^^......may I suggest adding some more bass, or making the bassline a little heavier and deeper?.....and having a real intrument to play while making electronic music can do wonders to our melodies, I was amazed how much my melodies changed when I got my keyboard a year and half ago :)
It definitely does - and also, looking at tablatures for other songs by my own favourite artists gave me a lot of insight into what you could actually do with a guitar (as a computer can just play anything effortlessly).
I'll definitely experiment with turning up the bass - trouble is that I have no idea what these will sound like on anyone else's speakers but my own. :)

I was listening to the Signal from the Sky samples again because they're amazing and now I want that album to exist (this must be what people like you felt like while waiting for my novel's last chapter...) and it linked back here, and even though I've listened to Unreality many a time by now, I decided to play the samples again out of curiosity.
I can't help but notice how much you seem to have slowed down This Corruption between this and the final version! Well, okay, it's not like this version is an Alvin and the Chimpunks cover or anything, but it's ... definitely different.

It's quite interesting to look at these again and see how they changed, now that I'm so used to the final ones... I remember lowering the key of This Corruption significantly before I was really happy with it, because here it gets far too high. And the instrumental that it goes into right after the chorus happens much later in the song in the final version.
