Another fanmade character for Skullgirls, this one with less basis in existing content. I think I'm calling him Shuei. For funsies, try to guess where he fits in.
While the posing and perspective are atrocious, this was mainly done as an exercise in painting. While it's not the best thing ever... I just like it, even as a flawed drawing. And that doesn't happen as often as I would like to, lately.
Am also considering making a simple character sheet thing for this one, with a drawing style more akin to Alex Ahad-senpai's art-style. But that might take a while, as my hands seem to have burned off... maybe it's time I sent my laptop to the cleaner again... xD
I've been posting a few steps of the process on my Facebook page. If you'd like to see that or other sketches and stuff like that, follow the link: https://www.facebook.com/hensketches

I thought Skullgirls was a female-only fighter but looked at the roster and looks like they added a giant band robot and a pro wrestler guy!? That game is proof that it's possible to make an indie fighting game, really wish I had skill to play those, still really cool character design.
Yes, originally the game only contained a roster of 8 female characters. But if you go check out the characters revealed during the Indiegogo campaing... ooo nelly. Too bad my picks didn't win. x'D
I'd strongly advise it if you're a fan of fighting games, even if just for the amazing art style. I certainly am (c'mon, fighting games are 70% character design, my free bread and butter xD), to the point that Skullgirls is currently my favorite fighting game (SoulCalibur need a proper release).
While I personally am not that good at it, the tutorials and training are so extensive and in-depth, that anyone can become good at the game by following the lessons, and most of them apply to other flat-arena fighting games as well.

I'd recommend getting either the PC version, or waiting to get the cross-Vita/PS4 version, if you have either of those consoles, that will be coming out.
The current version of the game on systems is called Skullgirls: Encore. However, they will soon release an update for the PC version, in conjunction with the PS4/Vita version, called Skullgirls: 2nd Encore, which will add voice acting, among other bonuses.

Yes, Lab Zero (the dev studio) always makes their new characters free when they release it.
Steam not having Encore, I think it's because Encore is just for the consoles, actually. With Steam, they are self-publishing, but before that, on consoles, the original game was published by Kock-nami, so when they broke up, Lab Zero had to remove the original game and resubmit it under a new name.
And with 2nd Encore, it will likely be either DLC or a patch for Steam.
