I think it is a little different in the sense that the love Elsa learned is sisterly love as opposed to romance love.

Even the older Disney films say "true love", and in this day and age, "true love" doesn't always mean romantic love. Princess Aurora could have been awoken by her parents or even one of the three fairies with a simple kiss on the forehead. Any one of the seven dwarfs could have awakened Snow White. Heck, Beast could learn to love all of his servants as friends and that would have made them all human.

Point I'm trying to make is that love, like many things, is not black and white anymore, and it doesn't always have to mean the romantic kind of love.
