My homemade recipe is just butter, vanilla extract, cream cheese, and lots of powdered sugar... XD It's super sweet, but messy to make. When I'm in a hurry I just use canned frostings. It's still good, just a little less sweet and softer. Not as good for decorating details, it wont hold, but perfectly fine for smearing.
