Something that bothers me: the most obvious, up-front part of the furry fandom, from a public point of view, is of course the fursuiter. Whenever you see a picture of a fursuiter in a non-furry community - say an anime forum or a games image board for example - you get all the usual expected "ew, creepy furfags" stuff thereafter. Yet whenever you see a picture of a cosplayer, everyone's all "oh, it's a cosplayer. That's cool," and go on about their business or discuss the anime or movie or game or whatever the character they're cosplaying is from. I've realised over the years that the furry fandom and the anime fandom are almost identical siblings, only the anime fandom is the bigger, older, shinier one that the parents love and the furry fandom is the grotty little one that plays in the mud. What bothers me is why they're seen in such different light when they're almost exactly the same.
This shit's got me thinking now. Sorry for the long comment, I think I'll go expand on this in a journal or something...
