It would seem that despite how malevolent she is, someone felt like being friendly to Della Noche the shadow witch and sent her a cupcake. How sweet! Not sure what Della thinks of it. Might just give it to her sentient witch cap to devour it.
I gotta say I really love this character and her design (then again, many of Chimeric2011's characters are pretty darn sweet), so I just had to draw her! X3
Unfortunately, I decided to try out a new method of colouring. In Photoshop Elements Editor, I selected the area around her, inverted the selection, and coloured a universal flat area. Okay, so far so good! That way if I change any lines inside, I don't have to fill in the spaces with whatever. Best yet is that with clipping layers I can colour the character without going outside the exterior lines. That's where the good things end.
Due to the clipping layers and the nature of the method, my usually paint bucket way of colouring would render the new method... rather redundant, so I coloured manually. Worst... mistake... you can do, unless you're VERY precise with your brush (key word, brush). Because if you AREN'T, when you shade you'll find yourself with all sorts of nasty blocks of colour just outside the lines they should be contained in! And not only that, but make a few line changes, and now your' colour the universal flat colour AND the colour of the area! In other words, while this may be useful for some, with my usual technique for colouring, this method does not work for me at all. =_=
At least I noticed several things to fix along the way, but still. Another picture that got unnecessarily dragged out far too long.
But anyway, technicalities aside, I think she turned out alright. Maybe not my best work, but an okay piece, which I wanted to be good for someone special~
Happy Birthday
