If you look at the one going up and the position of the sun it looks like the cloud is casting a shadow

Because it IS casting a shadow! The clouds are called "contrails" or condensation trails. The jet exhaust is very hot and moist, while the air up there is very cold and dry. So the exhaust rapidly cools like the steam from your shower on the mirror, forming a cloud that follows the plane.
The suns low angle in the sky and a several thousand foot differential in altitude between the lower contrail and the cloud deck creat the shadow.
Don't quote me on that, but there for a sec it sounded like I knew what I was talking about huh!? :)
