Had a lot of fun with this one and got to play around with a fuzzier brush. Subject matter also emerged organically out of the process so for me it was a little adventure in and of itself.
I have a few images, but didn't post some the last few days due to some timing issues and life events in general [nothing bad thankfully, just attention grabbing :3 ]

Sometimes if I am in a hurry or if i am only interested in a colour study then I will just use one layer. Most of the time though I tend to use 2-3 layers, roughly foreground, midground and background. The main reason is that I can easily use the erase tool to carve out shapes or explore composition without compromising features on other depth planes. It also allows for more concise application of gradients. Generally, the more complex and 'deep' a piece is, the more layers I use.
