What's Above? New Planets to Conquer.
Ok, so here's the deal -
I've been pretty uncreative the past two weeks, a bit inundated under a forklift-pallet-load of artblock. Ever since i got back from Furfright and battled the con crud... i've gotten nothing done.
But last night, as i stood in front of my blank page of bristol for the first hour fidgeting, i decided... hey, why don't i draw something new?
So this creature grew on my page. I know, i know... she's not that different... but! She's still new! :D
(Yeah, here head is a bit large, oops)
This is a female of the species, which i am temporarily calling the agharti (The first name that i thought of, and which seems pretty persistent... though the name is too important for this application... a more fitting name will come to me probably.)
...Um... there's a lot about their culture that will be conjured up in the future, so i don't have much to say about that at present... I think they live underground, and they smell like moss and earth. Their bodies heal extraordinarily fast, and as you can see, they practice a lot of both decorative and functional piercing.
I'm thinking i might make her head more deer-like. That thing on top is a horn - this is kind of a derivative of more typical unicorns.
The agartis' horns are generally s-curved like this, descending down the face from its root between the ears and eyes. The shape may vary some - hers is shaped like a cobra displaying its hood - i'm not sure if this is natural or if they carve and decorate their horns... probably the latter.
Their ears are really big, and fluffy! They have some very fine, soft fur covering certain parts of their bodies, but there is a good portion that is not furred, mostly the torso and face.
I haven't decided for sure, but i think they might lay eggs instead of birthing live young.
The horse-like appearance is really deceptive, they're not really like horses much. ...yeah, i really should change the face...
...
Anyway, i really like this picture, and i feel really happy that i created something new. I think i'm going to draw more of them. Doing a ref sheet for the species will be fun!
Now i've got to get some stuff i owe done for others. Hopefully art block is DED.
EDIT: Oh! I was thinking (but i forgot when i was writing this description) that these creatures might be marsupials... egg-laying marsupials. Once the little egg hatches they scoop up the defenseless little squirmy-thing and tuck it into their pouch so it can finish growing. I think that's really swell! : D

Decorative piercing~! <3 so much love for that haha
Loving the ears and the tail design, with the extra two little ones on the side, could see them doing something with piercings and stringing something between the various tails :D
These guys are very cool, do hope to see more of them :D!

platypus-deer from outta space. :3 Neat! XD I think the horn looks odd. :o But the rest is really fine! Would love to create one of those as I simply adore the idea of the decorative piercings. Ohhh.... lots of images in my head! What do you do to me again? Make me liking and draw vore? Make me thinking of making a fursuit? Oh gosh and now... extra sexy mutilating piercings everywhere!
Love the idea. ^_^

I think it would be really cool if other people made one of these characters. I'm going to make references for them, as well as info about the variations their species has in appearance (things like colours and fur patterns, etc.)
...So... if you wore a fursuit with lots of piercings and got eaten in it, it would be my fault? :P

HAHAHA! YES! defenitely... well except the piercings, maybe... I already love those, I only have not the option to get some myself. =/ I am afraid I won't get a job in the field I am studying with lots of Piercings. Oh well... but my characters usually have some, even if I seldomly determine where exactly the piercings are.
I'd love to create one of those, really. So when you get around creating a ref, I'll see what comes to my mind and may draw one. *nuzzle*

>.< You're getting better at anatomy, I'm getting worse. Also: The fact you can draw on paper makes me jealous. And the fact that you can draw anthro horses (ok, this is not a horse, but you use to draw many horses).
Back to pic: The horn is lovely. And I really think a more deer-like head would fit better.
The feet are sexy.

I think both media have their advantages, and from what I saw there are people who can make much better outlines with trad. inks than I can with PS. Anyway, when you are ever interested in a collab (I eman you make a sketch or something and I color it) let me know. In case you like my way of digital shading.
I bet it looks good. I really should draw more horses.

It's up to you what you want, although working with pencil shading and a pencil would be fun too. Since I suck at drawing on paper, I hardly ever get the opportunity to work with pencilshading. It always looks so nice.
But I can do both, so when you don't have the time to shade it in anyway and only make a rugh sketch, I would digitally ink it and than color it.

This one is really sweet EC.
I love her design and can't wait to see more of her and her friends
The horn is interesting: it reminds me of the snake which sits on the hat of
Egyptian pharaos.
The anatomy of her body is awesome...makes me wanna stare at her the whole dayXD

I love fuzzy ungulate ears!!! n.n About the face, wouldnt you be a little concerned if you changed to the deerlike face you may have to change the tail. While i feel the deelike face would be a little more suiting for her frame style, i do beleive the tail may contrast that. Im not saying it has to be chopped and more deerlike . . .maybe just shortened a bit . . . somewhere to half its length. O.o any feedback on my opinion. *grins goofily, then runs to hide be hind a tree*
Thanks!
And that's cool! I've never really given marsupials much consideration to be honest, but when the idea popped in my head and i thought about it, it just got cooler and cooler. I think it's great! Maybe i'll have to go check out your character in more detail, because i didn't know that about her species :D
