An extra-terrestrial fugivite from his own race, Fomalhaut's motives behind empowering Madusa are a mystery. Apparently communicating with the serpentine villainess telepahtically, Madusa seems to pay him little mind and goes her own way so it's clear Fomalhaut isn't controlling her. Given what can be heard of their exchanges on Madusa's side, there's a definite clash of goals and aims, though it seems that Fomalhaut must put up with her whims and desires directing their energies for the time being.

He's usually coiled around Madusa so he's been in the background here and there. I haven't drawn Madusa in a while either so that probably makes a difference. I did try to base him heavily on Quetzalcoatl and stylize him at the same time, partly to make him easier to draw.
He's normally an independent being but within the environment of the planet, especially in Gammorah Bay, he needs the support of a native host. He needs a certain set of compatability factors for that host and time to prepare for a link and a suitable environment for the transfer or he would have left Madusa already.
Except that he doesn't want to contact the heroes. The plans he has in mind are much more along the lines of very not good and Madusa's schemes pale in comparison. Having her paired with him is one of the best things going for the heroes or their jobs would be a whole lot tougher.
