yeah, it was, admittedly. i had a near-miss when i was chasing shinies and woke up the undead dragon. i managed to nope the fuck away without sustaining too much damage but then i think i fell off of something and died.
i kept tossing myself at the capra demon until i finally managed to beat that skull-headed bastard x.x my hands were sweating.

run up the stairs and try to kill the dogs first. it'll make sense in context
also, when you get to the area where you find him, watch out for hollowed thieves. you'll recognize them because they have bucklers and knives.
also also, check the houses. if you've got the master key or residence key, you'll eventually run into a sorcerer who locked himself in. do NOT break the barrels with your weapon or you could aggro him by accident. roll into them.
also also also, if you manage to get past the hellkite drake, there's a bonfire behind where he perches in addition to a mechanism that'll let you trigger the gate blocking one of the entrances into the undead parish
