On a society visit to London today, and the 8 or so hours that I had available to explore the capital of the UK gave me some time to think and reflect on the past year I've had at university, but also allowed me time to see those parts of London that I had not yet been able to go to, namely the RAF Museum at Hendon, the View from the tallest building in Western Europe, and a gentle meander along the side of the Thames, treading in the footprints of almost 2,000 years of settlement.
From the warmth of the 68th floor of the Shard looking to the North East, it is possible to see some of London's most attractive sites, such as the London Tower, Tower Bridge, HMS Belfast, and City Hall, also known as Boris Johnson's workplace (the rounded one south of the bridge the appears to be leaning over). Beyond this shot is the O2 Centre, London City Airport, the Olympic Park, and Canary Wharf. In short, the Shard, for its expense, is definitely worth the view (and for £10 extra, the glass of bubbly (not for me, of course!))
Hope you enjoy!
