I used one of my last remaining 'Mycosynth Lattice' artist proofs to paint this Dalek, and it's up for grabs on eBay! Auction ends Sunday, thanks for looking :)

I've discovered Doctor Who rather late and have to say...
who needs the Empire? Romulans? Klingons? Borg?
Nope, the Daleks are my number 1 bad guys.
ENdangering a quadrant of a galaxy? Taking over an entire galaxy?
Pocket change.
The Daleks are a danger to the entire universe and maybe even beyond.
An entire species capable of time travel was needed to stop them.
What? The borg would have assimilated the Doctor? Pft. Tey might assimilate him, true, and a moment later he would take over the collective.
Just my opinion.

They can be pathetic, true, though I stopped watching after Tennant (various reasons).
But look at it this way. The Borg send one cube to earth and it got destroyed. What do they do next? Send one cube to earth. Not ten, not a hundred, one. They met the Romulans, destroyed a few outposts and didn't get a cloaking device? How stupid is that?
Single Borg have been stopped by one human again and again.
While single Dalek has been destroyed by a human (Rose Tylor) a special weapon was needed. One Dalek is about the equivalent of a starfighter.
Like you said, the Daleks have been pathetic sometimes (always depending on the writer), but they still scare me more than anything else.

well humans have destroyed Daleks a lot; one human (Ace) beat up one with a baseball bat (because she is awesome and makes Rose look mewling and unpleasant in comparison)
I admit I was more scared of the Cybermen than Daleks...or at least the old Cybermen, new ones are just basic villains

I find Moffet wrote great episodes, but since he took over the series, the few episodes I saw had a great setup, great build up and an ending I could only say "That's it?" The longer it went, the worse it got. And what I saw recently... the Doctor destroying a fleet of attacking ships with his resurrection energy? What? The Doctor killing maybe thousands of sentients? Even if they are evil, no. That's not a Doctor I want to see.
And the 12th Doctor? I saw little, but he was simply pahetic. While I don't mind so much that he doesn't remember anything and I think I understand why they did it, the way they did it is simply stupid. It would have been great to see him slowly relearning everything and learning what his previous incarnations had done, maybe even be horryfied by some of it, that would have been great.
Tennant was brillian and had great writers behind him, but you know what I remember the most? Finding out who the Face of Boe was. These few minutes at the end of one episode. The 10th Doctor's run was brilliant, but this little detail stands out for me.
