Character File Card #4 "Whaleboat"
In lieu of a page this week (and for the next couple weeks, sorry!!),
korat and I have been working on refining our ideas on the T10K universe! We are finalizing the ideas we've presented in the past, trimming off the fat and formatting stuff for public consumption, ie. for future print. That said, we've decided to show you guys a glimpse of the spoiler-free stuff. ;D
Most Specials in the T10K universe surprisingly don't have super flashy or high-powered Aspects. It is far, far more common to be on the subtle end of the scale in that regard!
Zig's powers are like that -- (and he's just fine with folks underestimating him, makes his job a whole lot easier!)

Yup. He's actually older than previously mentioned to fit into world timelines so it worked and made sense. We will go back and fix it on his previous sheet! One of those things we ran into while revamping timelines haha!
. He also says he's not set to retire any time soon. ;)

Huzzah it is Zig! Thank you for posting him!
Interesting background for this frog. Definitely a very competent fellow there!
His power reminds me of the frog race in Jack L. Chalker's Well World series. That race would carry its possessions around in special compartments in their mouths. They weren't quite the Bag of Holding, but the idea is similar.
I really hope we get to see more of him in the comic! He looks like a fun fellow to get to know.

And thank you for chillaxing with us, Matthias! :D There are a lot of animals that rely on internal cheek-pouches to carry stuff around, namely various rodents (squirrels, hamsters, chipmunks, etc.) and pelicans. Marsupials meanwhile carry stuff in little abdominal pouches. Amphibians don't actually carry anything in their throat-sacs! (And the few species of frogs that carry their young in their mouths are actually storing them right in the stomach, ewww...)
As a toad, Zig will be our window into the amphibian side of life!

There is something hilarious about watching squirrels stuff their cheeks! Of course one has to be very careful about stuffing them with a loaded weapon lest an unexpected round of fisticuffs set it off! I'm sure our toad Zig here is quite circumspect in that regard!
And it is a great pleasure to chillax with you fine folks! This is quite an enjoyable and fun comic.

Pretty cool. I bet he uses those to store all kinds of nasty weapons. I imagine it means he doesn't get on many public flights. XD Getting through security would be a nightmare... or a rather disturbing show as he dumps one set of "throat sacs" after another... only to set off the detector again!
Subtle is nice too. So many people are obsessed with flashy stuff. Let them be. It let's the quiet sort, like me, sneak around the back for a flanking bonus.

"Former Open Source Officer"... that one had me stumped... had to google it to find out if it was a real thing.... and bugger me, it was!
Zig's special feature is one that seems so simple yet would open up a whole range of options in the field...
When I was reading this info on the website I thought he seemed an understated character... that is until you thought about the varied jobs he has had... otherwise he would seem likely to blend-in quietly in the background compared to some others in the group... as you mentioned here, this is a skill that is very valuable.

Potency is a broad term; it need not be powerful to be potent, for even a weapon of finesse can be potent when used properly. I like leaning more towards finesse and occasionally unorthodox, especially since most people don't think about unorthodox means because they're, well, unorthodox.
And on the same note, utility can often be more useful than something of raw power. There's nothing quite as awkward than discovering the location of a trap, and looking around to see that no one is playing a rogue.
Myself, though I'm not sure if you'd classify it "flashy" or not, I've developed a fondness for illusions and projections. While they can't harm anything, it opens up a world of possibilities in utility.
