Just having some fun with elseworlds.
After high school, Javalier Rawhead studied computer engineering and got a PhD in Robotics. Afterwards, much to his former boss's dismay, he moved to Esperanza, where he lives very happily. His research in bionic prosthetics allowed him to replace his faulty eyes and digestive system, vastly improving his health and well-being.
But what if he had decided to study Biology instead of computer engineering? He would have focused in genetic engineering, and his research in synthetic organ transplants would have allowed him to replace his faulty eyes and digestive system. Also, since for some reason way more women study Biology than Computer Science, he would have also developed a much more sociable attitude during his studies.
But what if he had decided to pursue his dream of programming videogames instead of working on Robotics? He would have lived a pleasant and peaceful life doing what he loved, but he would have never been able to heal his faulty eyes and digestive system. However, the lower stress level of his hermit lifestyle, as well as a healthy diet and a daily dose of lubricant eyedrops, would have allowed him to withstand the physical pain.
But what if he had decided to study computer engineering, but hadn't been able to move to Esperanza, because his former boss sabotaged his application, so that Javi had to work for him forever? The rage and frustration would have worsened his eye problems, and lacking the resources he would have had in Esperanza, he would have lost his eyes in excruciating pain. Furious, he then would have moved to the American Empire and offered his services in weaponry research, while hoping to one day get revenge on his former boss, workplace, and even hometown.
But what if Javi was a damn pony? He would be Coppercog, of course.
EDIT: Changed the color of hands and feet, for realism and because I like them better this way.

Javalier designs impressive footwear.
This reminds me greatly of the 'BiOM' bionic below-the-knee prosthesis-es-es that Hugh Herr showcased at a TED talk in March 2014.
The prosthesis he showed had given me some questions, towards the interface between the human and its' developing bionic technology.
There have been problems brought up, in various amounts of literature, that revolve around the more-invasive and more-permanent installation of bionics into a living being. The body may not recognize the bionics being integrated into it, and may even reject the bionics with very tragic side-effects to the host being.
How would Javalier have combated such a problem? How would he have gotten the bionics--even his OWN cybernetics--to be accepted or even embraced by the host body?

I'm sorry to hear that y'all aren't getting the all-around in experience, man. It sucks when the potential may be there, but the superiors do not recognize it. Working in robotics is a field I would've loved to get into, had I not botched my education at the Bachelor's level, and then become so insanely confused as to what I want to do with myself.
But then again, all the more to a guy being creative in his fiction, I suppose.

VG and Genetics Javi are probably my favorite <.< the VG one is so... cool! He looks like somebody that'd be fun to hang out with! Genetics Javi is so strange looking with those eyes but he's so cute with that open hoodie! I want to snuggle both of them <.< among other things... I wonder if biology Javi would met me give him a footrub sometime XD. Also regarding Robotics Javi? Are his prosthetic arms neural-linked? As in plugged into his spinal column or brain? There was a study a while back about neural plasticity in chimps and they were able to get a chimp to operate a robotic limb plugged into his spine as if it were his own limb! Isn't biology something? XD.
Biology is indeed awesome! I don't think any of the Javis would mind a footrub at all. Except the evil one. And the one with hooves.
Roboticist Javi's arm and leg bits are actually just some bracelets and boots, they aren't really prostheses. However, his eyes and digestive system are.

Oh!? That part I did not know! That's kind of interesting! Robotic fashion... *notes this down furiously* But... they wouldn't mind at all!? Well, in that case I am going to have to try and pay them a visit if I can! I'd probably have to launch money shurikens at you before that'd take place though <w<. There's something about Biology Javi, those eyes! I wonder if they're compound eyes, or in some form or manner an improvement over our regular old eyes, I wouldn't know! And I share prosthetic optics with Robotic Javi! We can see through all the walls! Yet still walk into them...
