Babyfur Public Behaviour Guidelines v 2.1
THESE ARE GUIDELINES...NOT RULES!
THEY ARE RECOMMENDATIONS...NOT RULES!
THESE ARE STANDARDS OF CONDUCT...NOT RULES!
IT IS YOUR CHOICE TO TAKE THEM OR LEAVE THEM. BUT ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT YOUR ACTIONS REFLECT BACK ON ALL OF US.
In light of recent developments and changes in the culture of the fandom, mostly over-seas, I felt it was a good time to make some of the changes suggested when version 2.0 was released as well as address a few others.
This is not the original BFPBG. This is the distilled, softened and toned down recommendations worked on in 2009 between Aloha Wolf, myself and a few others in the community at the time, and presented as a more balanced set of Guidelines.
Note, these are GUIDELINES, NOT RULES. Whether you chose to adhere to or ignore them, these are the standards that the fandom as whole use when dealing with our community. Some events are more open and friendly to our interests; however most cons and events are neutral to our interests at best.
Changes are: Added reference to the "event's "Code of Conduct," moved "wearing or using a pacifier" to "being in poor taste" as evidence has shown that it is no longer accurate to say it is "generally accepted" (outside of Ravers), and revised tipping etiquette for Hotel Room Staff.
These were originally drafted to show the Fandom that the Babyfur community does not condone all the rumored incidents and activities that were spreading about us. It was put in place to show event and convention directors that Babyfurs have standards and anyone acting outside of those standards is someone who is not an "active and informed" participant in our community. As an added benefit, we are able to utilize them as guidelines for the influx of new babyfurs to share with them the things that tend to get us in trouble so they can adjust their expectations and behavior accordingly.
The lack of common sense among a small group of individuals who's goal was to cast off adult responsibility and decorum is what led us to create these recommendations or risk being black listed from fandom events.
I disabled the comments for 24 hours to give us all some time to thing about our responses so they are not knee-jerk, in the moment, emotional reactions. And FA didn't automatically re-enable it. That's fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Thank you for your time, your patience and understanding.
