I was shot in the gut and when my grandfather came to see me all he said is "are you just going to lie there?"

A couple years before that he had just had a triple bypass and I visited him in the hospital. He said to me "this ain't over yet"

He was in the Air Force during the Korean War but I still don't feel like I live up to his standards.

walked out of the hospital after each one first thing she wanted was a margarita she died when she said she was damn good an ready to go going in her sleep a couple nights later

my 17th birthday i got tested her n me drank the ladies of the family under the table
(mom grandmom 2 aunts 2 cousins) me and my great aunt staggered out together gah never have i been that drunk ever again

the important thing is you live up to your standards. it's great to use theirs as a guide, but never feel it's set in stone

I remember at a young age how disappointed he was in me that I couldn't remember all the prayers before eating any meal.. just couldn't grasp it all.
Then how disappointed he was when he caught me nabbing change out of his drawer..
I worked for him at his dry cleaning shop and was fired in a couple hours because I took too long.
Even after the Marines, I just got one of those "look how pretty. It's very nice for you" sort of responses.
I may have cried at his funeral but I still just have mixed feelings regarding the past

mostly sweets, like sweet breads or candies and stuff. Meats don't really keep too well, gotta consider how well the house is gonna smell too..
Marigolds supposedly smell like the dead so they adorn everything! even inside the eyes of skulls. Candles light the way but I'm not too sure about that one..
The little skeleton statues, there's a reason for their color of dress but I'm not clear on that either.
