When she first started her part of the trade, she told me that she has never drawn anyone as bulky as Cliff before this pic (and she has done a large number of pics over time -- mostly female Draenei and humans). In fact, she initially had Cliff's build completely wrong, I almost didn't even recognize him. Good thing she gave me a WIP preview, I would have cringed, admittedly. >_>; http://i.imgur.com/pmpDtxb.jpg
So I had to step in and show her how to draw beefier characters. This was what I did for her, which she used to an extent in the final piece.

When I first designed Cliff a couple years ago, I was originally going to let his hair be black, but he ended up looking too generic and I've always wanted him to look distinct (which is why he has a somewhat goofy looking tooth in my ref page). I initially changed it to red, but then he reminded me too much of 
bokuryu's OC, so I made it cyan.
Fast forward roughly two years to today, and I've still had no regrets with my decision, so I can safely conclude that he'll stay like this. :)
