In Mexico we celebrate “the Day of Dead”
(On image: my own little offering to my Dad & parents)
When those days come (1/2 november) we made offerings dedicated for those dear people gone, usually our family, friends.
Your altar is decorated with the yellow flower of this holyday, the Cempazuchitl´s flower (the dead`s flower), aromatic essences, candles, vivid color customed paper, food (dead´s favourite food if you can provide) and a lot of traditional candies, fruits, water, tamales, tacos, prayers and more stuff.
You can found the Traditional bread for everyone: the dead´s bread, and skulls of sugar.
Those skulls got living people’s names like yours or mine, it’s for fun, nothing offensive.
Also you can made a path putting some flowers´s petals on the way to take our deads to the offering.
In some places the graveyards are opened on these nights for public, so you can decorate your family / friend’s grave as same, very beautiful and sometimes like a picnic.
Maybe you wondered, why all this?
Because on those days, we think our deads can go with us, they can join us, and they can "eat" the food´s essence of the offerings, we can sing with them, all ´cause it´s the Day of the dead. We are in joy with it, we can play & smile with death itself, there’s no fear just joy & respect.

Ha, ha, ha!!
The "Bone" was made by a local artisan with Mache paper and also is a pen.
I dedicated my offering to my Dad & Grandpha but also one friend ask me to add a part to his dog "Pecas" who died some weeks ago.
In the offering you can put candies or food to your parents, but in the case of a mascot we though a plate with a bone.
