Lord Henry Wimblethorpe, Executive Under-Chancellor of the Upper House's commite on colonial affairs in arcadia and all placed therein and beyone thumbed his mustache. speaking to one of his fellow parliament officials. "It's a tiresome business dealing with these colonials." "ave you heard any details of the Ryan's boy His father has been demanding inqury after his son't last letter. It is becoming a bother." Lord Henry stroked his beard at the question "well more of their daughter now, ran afoul of native magics or some such rot. You know the sort."
"no sir I do not" the minister replied. "well the wuboaki, or whatever their name is, cursed him after he defeated them in battle." In actually Lord Henry had no idea the why or hows, but a good story made excellent entertainment and if he needed to embellish it, all the more fun it was. "aaaah simple savage folks." the minister nodded."much like the highlanders."
"yes well between bandits, rouges, smugglers, and the natives Ryans has her pretty hands full"
"yes, m'lord aren't you leaving for New York with the tide."
"tomorrow yes... a few months of seasickness then a tour of the crown's holdings in Arcadia where provincial folk will try to wine and dine me."
"sounds boorish, and plain"
"oh they are simple uneducated folk, but at least they are more earnest"
"Will you be inviting... her?" asked one noblewoman with a large wig.
"of course it shall be entertaining to see that rough sort try to walk with high culture. I can pass information on for the Ryans as well, maybe earn a donation for my re-election a few years from now."
They wined and dined into the night, Lord Henry would awake the next day with a pounding headache and an ache in his spine. Dragged out of bed and walking up the gangplank onto the man-o-war he was of foul temper as the green coast of Angland dissapeared on the horizon.
