If it really is latex I'm impressed you never had Taku fade or break by now. I thought latex tends to break down faster and fade easier. How did you get around that problem?

That's only the case with latex if you don't treat it properly. You can extend the life of latex for a very long time.

Oh neat. I heard tell that pool toys used to be made from Latex but the rapidly faded or would pop fairly easily after a short life which is why all modern pool toys are vinyl. I guess they use vinyl as it's more cost-effective for longevity than latex but latex can still be made to last long then?

I can understand why those would fade or pop easily. It's because latex doesn't do well to exposure from the sun. Considering pooltoys are generally an outdoors thing, it wouldn't take too long for them to fade and pop over time due to extended exposure. Vinyl/PVC is the cheaper more longer lasting substitute that is now used though for inflatables.
