Desert Rose Cherry Blossom/Candy Kei Themed Wreath Badge
I've done it. It's a masterpiece. That or I've created a monster. This badge is too amazing and perfect. I have found the most amazing way to combine all the elements I love in crafty badge making.
If you've been following my art for a while (or even a very short while) you will have noticed my affinity for stickers and glitter. This would sometimes manifest in badges like this: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/9943224/
However, the problem with that was that some of the stickers would fall off and the glitter would eventually chip away because they don't stick to the laminated artwork very well. But of course the artwork of the character and the name need to be preserved. This badge is my solution to those issues. The character art and name banner are laminated. The wreath is decorative paper backed by board, but not laminated. This allows the decorations to stick forever! So while you could say it's a little delicate because the wreath is not laminated, it's still strong and actually less delicate in terms of the risk to the decorations. I also love the layering effect it creates, so three-dimensional! It looks even more amazing when lit from behind. The wreath also has the added advantage of hiding the badge clip slot.
Generally I would let the stickers dictate the edges of the wreath, but the paper I chose had a flower pattern on it to begin with, so I let some of it show through and kept the outlines of the petals somewhat intact.
I'm not sure what I will have to charge for these yet, but my intention is to go out and buy stickers, glitter, paper, etc. to match the desired theme for each badge to make them really personal and perfect for each person. They will also have to be shipped a little more carefully than a flat badge. So these may have to fall into the realm of $60-$80.
However, while I was working on this, I also realized it was perfectly adorable with just the bust and the name banner: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/16807660/
So if anyone prefers something a little smaller and simpler, I could easily make Bust and Banner badges for $20.
Also, I have to blame the pastel colors and candy kei theme of this badge on

After finding the group I had to google "Fairy Kei and "Candy Kei" because these seemed like concepts I needed in my life. I actually think Fairy Kei is a little too 80's for my taste in some cases. I prefer sweet lolita. But I am all about the kawaii pastel sweets right now! Lol!
And finally, I also have a tribute to Dax on this badge. I found cat stickers that looked like her, as well as one that looks like the green Mad Hatter hat mug I used to rest on her head while I was drinking tea with her in my lap. Again, this badge is too perfect.

The wreath is not laminated, so the stickers stick better. I've had issues with certain types of stickers in the past where they would peel off of the plastic lamination, or because of their shape the backs wouldn't fully contact the surface. And of course I can't put lamination over the stickers unless they are totally flat ones. So by making the wreath out of a strong board, but not laminating it, I can stick whatever I want to the paper surface and it will stay put, and the wreath will still be fairly sturdy.
