Vermilion Jones in pink.
Ahaha in ten years I've never drawn this guy without a cigarette in his hand, and the ribbon on my sketchpad lines up in this scan to look like a rivulet of smoke.
I bought some Sharpies, fushia, two shades of majenta, violet, periwinkle, and apricot. It seemed a good section of my nighttime palette. Cost $9.60. I masked Vermy and cloned in the texture of the People's Almanac with which I weighed down the sketchpad. Drew it yesterday while a little tipsy, colored it this afternoon.
Markers, it brings me right back to the Prismacolor days, back before I came of age to draw. Who was your favorite Prismacolor artist from back before pirating Photoshop was easy? Or GIMP was popular, that's what I use.

I'm not quiiiite seeing that. :o If anything, he looks more deadpan than Cheech. Like, his very presence is ironically undermining the humor of anyone in the room. He's hip while actively trying not to be. The kind of guy who makes a place seem edgy even though goddamit he hates people who use the word "edgy". x3 If that makes any sense. :o
Coming back to this six months later, how did you get this character so completely right without me ever drawing him saying a word? I've had him for a while and his personality and the way other people think of him is very developed in my head, and you got it spot on.
