This kinda ties in with Blade's backstory of her once having been put into Cryogenic suspened animation. If someone put her there, then they'd put some effort into keeping her there, wouldn't they? So, why not send the leader of the Maverick Hunter's 7th division (Air Force), Storm Eagle, to stop her?

Thus, we arrive at the scene of the battle; Blade attempted to lose Storm Eagle in the darkness and clouds of night, but the thunderstorm sparked a raging fire, and the choking smoke forced her into open air. This allowed Storm Eagle to catch sight of her, where then they engaged in a fierce mid-air sortie, untill Blade catches a strong thermal in her wings, and delivers a powerful claw attak, shredding Storm Eagle's alloy exterior and damaging his flight capabilites....
