Goodness me, this turned out amazingly well! First of all, I had to check my notes to see if this was an idea that I’d given you – as Fang “drawing a self-portrait” was an idea that I was planning on drawing / having drawn for me. Turns out I didn’t give you the idea at all, and you’ve just got the character worked out really, really well!
The setting of the entire picture is so nice – I love that that the canyon walls curve around her, and the sky overhead looks so good. I really like how you wash out the parts of the wall where the light is flooding in. That combined with the highlights on her tail just look absolutely stunning! The waterfalls pouring in from the sides look so pretty too – it’s a picturesque valley even without the beautiful Smilodon adorning it.
And now that we’re onto the topic of Fang – You’ve done an amazing job rendering her here, she is looking phenomenal. Her pose is fantastic, and she looks so focused on her work! The detailing on the spots the fur and most impressively those beautiful highlights is just amazing. You get so much shading in your anatomy too, it’s lovely to see – I really love your “close to realistic” style.
Anyway, there’s nothing at all to be ashamed of, you’re not rusty in the slightest, this is amazing work! Thank you so much!
