Otter and Badger

Aloft beneath elder willow
Badger sits with company
Otter fishes on the bank
For catfish if there's any

The badger is drifting off
While the otter fishes on
Battles with sagging eyes
The sandman's fight is won

Otter snags himself a bite
And yells for badgers help
Badger grumpily staggers up
To help the otter whelp

In a daze badger gropes
For Otter's fishing pole
But slips on a bit of moss
And into the fishing hole

Otter's pole gets jerked back
The fish comes flailing out
Otter's triumph cry is sound
To the bank is badgers route

Badger scowls up at otter
Glee, catfish on his pole
Badger’s back to the tree
The fish back to the cold.
