One concept I have about outfits for magic-wielding characters is accommodating the generation of waste heat via ventilation and the option to reduce coverage as needed. (Because even magic must obey thermodynamics, and as the control focus a lot of that heat goes to the magic wielder.) So loose, slits/panels, layers, and even bare skin.
The more a wizard strips down, the more power they're putting into it. If they're almost naked and immersed in icy water, run!
