"End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it... White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise." ~ Gandalf the Grey
Before I upload this week's batch of commissions, I wanted to post my tribute to Sir Christopher Lee, who passed from this world last Sunday at age 93. He accomplished much in his lifetime, playing many, many roles - Dracula, Count Dooku, and Saruman the White being among them. I sketched this the other morning when I found out, just as a quick way to pay tribute to such an amazing actor and a true wizard of our time. His body may be laid to rest but he has been immortalized forever as a legend of Hollywood, and won't soon be forgotten.
If time permits, I might finish this up with color, but we'll see. Would be epic to have Orthanc in the background with a great big silver moon. :>

I've always imagined sir Christopher lee as a white owl.
It is a creature of calculated intelligence, natural grace, mystery, and rife with occult and supernatural connotations, and noted as oracles who can see into the spirit realm. Sounds like a close fit to me. They are regal and awe inspiring just like the legend himself. May you rest in peace Sir Lee and take flight with white wings~

Wow... Christopher Lee is dead? I never heard of that until now...
He really was a great actor. I loved him in all of his roles, especially his role as Saruman in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.
I also loved that quote you left. That was one my most treasured scenes from The Return of the King, when Gandalf said it to Pippin. It was quite moving to me.
