"The volatile world of Helboth was once a lush jungle planet filled with life. However, internal instability has transformed the planet over several millenia, into a volcanic wasteland with temperatures far exceeding those most mortals would find tolerable. Life persists, and has adapted, and none more than the fierce Helbothi, or as they are colloquially known, Cryo-Kin. The towering repto-mammalian people have evolved from simple felines into bizzare hybrid creatures, well-suited for Helboth's hazardous climate. They are widely known for their absurdly low body temperatures, which sit far below zero. A single touch from a Cryo-Kin often results in frostbite, and remaining in direct contact with one under most circumstances can be fatal. Unfortunately, their power, loyalty, and exotic appeal have made them popular targets of unscrupulous deep-space slavers. Away from their homes, the Cryo-Kin are forced to wrap themselves in winter clothes simply to survive room temperature, so accustomed are they to their scalding home planet.

Mina, once a slave to the Crime Lord Kang, was one of the lucky few. She spent her years of slavery on the desert planet Partch, a climate which suited her better than most. As the Crime Lord's personal bodyguard, the responsibility of dealing with unruly clients and other riff-raff fell to her, and while many feared her stature and tremendous physical strength, she proved herself to be more merciful than most of her fellow 'employees', carefully freezing her victims to stop their pulse, and setting them free afterward. What Kang, and the slavers as a whole, failed to grasp was that the Cryo-Kin were proud and disciplined, and though they allowed themselves to be enslaved, they strove silently to keep their moral grounding intact. When Kang discovered Mina's quiet disobedience, he arranged to have her fed to his pet grosh. However, by making the grosh's chains cold and brittle, Mina released the beast during her 'execution', allowing it to roam free and wreak havoc on Kang's estate, with the Crime Lord mysteriously perishing in the midst of the chaos. She was subsequently rescued by the X-Crew, who had been sent to monitor Kang's estate.

Mina now assists the X-Crew both at base and in the field, not as a slave, but as a proud recruit. She can often be seen in the central UDS station, bundled up in her winter clothes, escorting the X-Crew and its associates through the busy streets. She's difficult to miss."

I feel a bit better about Mina's design now that I've drawn her a couple times, but please let me know if you have any more suggestions and ideas regarding the character, as I'm still considering incorporating some which were suggested on her reference.
