"Hime?" a tenor voice asked and Sarah looked up to see Hiroshi standing next to her. Her youngest brother had been miserable and jumpy all day and had been very quiet while they rode home in her little VW. During lunch, Kaname and Kaori had told her about the incident right before his choir class, and she had been waiting for him to talk to her all day. She might not have been their parents, but after her own experiences with Gaige she could understand. She also hoped she could save Hiroshi from some of what she went through and knew she was still recovering from it.
"What is it Ototo," She asked with a smile. She admitted she doted on Hiroshi. Out of all the siblings next to Kaname and Kaori she was closest to him.
He looked down and then away. "Um…" she saw it. She saw him lose his confidence. He didn't like confrontation. Actually he hated it. He wasn't weak willed. Far from it he stood up for himself all the time but that still did not mean he liked the confrontation. At home he was always the one trying to smooth things over when Mia annoyed someone or Robbie and Tim had gotten into some stupid prank or another. "Nothing," he responded ears going back to his head. "I… I see you have homework." He tried to turn away.
"Ototo, I always have homework, whether I actually need to study or not, I always have my muzzle in a book you know that."
"Oh, I just… I mean…" He seemed to wilt and Sarah's heart went out to him.
"You want to talk to me," she said gently but firmly before he could find an excuse to slink away.
"Well," he began. "Ane-chan told me to talk to you."
Sarah smiled and folded her paws in front of her. She knew what had happened but she'd let him tell her. "About what?" she asked.
He sighed and finally looked up. "I have a girl that won't leave me alone."
Sarah could see the embarrassment in his expression. "And you don't like the attention." she said simply giving him her full attention.
"No," he finally blurted out and Sarah blinked at the pure frustration in his voice. "I mean, I'd like to have a girl's attention, but I mean…" he began to stutter and she had to suppress the whine of sympathy. Hiroshi was very popular at school. He had a lot of friends because everyone trusted him. There were the idiots that loved to tease or try to bully him because of his small stature and his love of dance and choir but by and large everyone in his class and a few upper classmen were fond of him.
Unfortunately it also meant that there were a few that were too fond of him. She knew of at least three girls that had been very pushy. She also knew how they viewed Hiroshi as a possession more than a person. She guessed that they had finally figured out who would claim him.
"Have you told her?"
"What?" Hiroshi asked in confusion.
She gave him a gentle smile. "Have you told her you are not interested?"
He blushed and paused. "Sort'a…" he drew the response out.
Sarah gave an 'mmmhmm.' and thought for a few moments. "You tried to tell her in private, when she had no one watching."
"Well, I didn't want to hurt her feelings."
Sarah nodded. "I understand." She put her paw on his shoulder. "Tell her in public."
Hiroshi blinked. "Hime?"
She stood and put her paw on his shoulder. "You need to tell her, publically, and you need to make it known you don't like how she's going about it. Other people need to know Ototo not just you and her."
"Why?"
She sighed gently. "So people know that she's going too far. Your friends, Daddy, mothers, they can't help and your friends won't help unless they know. Trust me Ototo, please tell her as publicly as you can the next time she tries it. Yell out 'Stop that I don't like it!' Make a scene if you have to but people have to know."
Hiroshi blinked and she saw he didn't understand. "If people know, and she keeps pressing you no one can say you were just playing hard to get. Trust me Ototo. Do it, and no one can say you 'really want it.'"
