Life is harsh in some areas of Africa; there are many unstable governments with multiple factions fighting each other for dominance. The battles can get brutal, escalating into knockout-drag out firefights on massive scales. The body count rises rapidly as the fighting rages through local villages forcing the poor residents to take up arms themselves just to survive and defend their way of life. The economic environment transforms into a barbaric system where the only currency is food, medical supplies, and guns. Disease runs rampant accelerating the death toll. Society deteriorates into the mindset of "every man for himself" tearing communities apart over their differing politics and the general will to survive. Families and friends must stick together, and fight together if they are to make it through the turmoil. Children must avoid IEDs, crossfires, and sudden outbreaks of guerrilla warfare tactics just to get to school; most never attend class due to the violence, or because the campus has been destroyed. These wars can rage on from days, weeks, to months. and the poor souls of those caught in the middle go to bed praying to see the light of the next day.

In the end, hundreds lay dead with one side emerging marginally victorious leaving the remaining opposition to retreat and regroup back underground only to build up strength for yet another war in a vicious, destructive cycle. Just a day in the life of this battered hyena trying to defend her town from an invading terrorist faction.
