Here are some mock ups of page ideas.
Not sure what this is about? You can find more info here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/16806402/
EDIT: I should clarify that every group represents one page NOT an open book. For example, template A is a single page split for two spaces.

A seems to look the best, and most inviting. you could alternate between tops and bottoms, too.
B would work on a like, 5x11 book, but only one column per page.
C is a bit... I wouldn't know what to do with it. probably turn sideways.
D would invite one to do headshots only.
alternating could work, between A and D. that could also mean a book won't get filled from page 1 to the end, but however the artist in question feels like. not necessarily a bad thing, though.

IS YOUR BODY READY STORY? HERE IS WHAT I THINK!
As an artist I have mixed feelings about A. Like, I look at it like just more space to fill that I will not have time to fill. I actually like the smaller boxes because it has defined my composition space. And a frame is pretty important to consider from a drawing perspective. But I think I'd need to try it out to really substantiate my total and complete knee jerk response cause that's what that is :I
I'll get back to you with useful feedback after I try them out lol.
So that said, after really looking at them, and I do like them all, but for all intents and purposes I think C is the least useful. I think this because after being in this community for awhile, people are not really that interested in interesting composition and pieces as art as much as pieces that depict their character. And I don't mean for that to sound so negative, but there is totally a conceit to it and I think that conceit has to be acknowledged for this project to be a successful one.
C would take clever thinking from an artist (clever thinking they might not have time for in a con environment!), and while I personally enjoy that sort of challenge, I think anything that might take away from a collector's ability to see the character or sona they want to see and likely want to be the main element in the image might be pretty bad & too much planning for the artist in that one possibly.
Personally I like A the least. But I'm already in the minority there. But it comes less from that I think there's anything inherently wrong with it and more because again I'm just seeing space that I'll have to fill with a character or negative space. But that's really just another design challenge and I'm prolly being a little weird about it honestly~
I think it might be interesting to have more than one type of page in a book though I understand how this could potentially be problematic, but I like variation in sizes, especially cause I look at A and see 'Full Composition' and I look at B and see 'character drawing'. I also quite like D because they're small and could allow for some quick fun drawings and interaction between boxes/artists :) And of course there's no set rule for what an artist could do in any of them~
I suppose also, different size books might need to have different size space. Like, if someone wanted a pocket book, A5 or A6 it would need to have big ol' boxes to utilize as much space as possible. Where a 9x12 or bigger could be split up quite a bit and still have ample drawing room.
those are my pre-caffeine-no-sleep thoughts this morning. Hope my input was useful and not super frazzled :D

^ This pretty much nicely sums up how I feel. :3 I would imagine, with time constraints, not a lot of people would have the proper time to completely full up A pages, as nice as it would be. I mean, sure. Throw in a few A pages, but as IntricateVision has stated here, B and (especially) D seem more viable.
