A little closure on Merry, but it only brings Chucky's love life back to square one.

I was a university flight instructor for three years. Like Ian, we were only a few years older than most of our students, and the shit that we heard from them would blow you away. The aviation school was 90 percent male, and because of our students, we knew more about the few female students there than any of us instructors should have. Chucky's remark is pretty tame.
Now I'm torn on what to feel...AGAIN! Was Merry just a slow learner trying to cover for her inability to grasp the subject matter, or was she a slacker who thought she could manipulate everyone into doing her work for her and got a rude awakening when her lack of effort finally caught up with her?
Sometimes I hate being a writer. I read way too much into things and can't make up my mind on how to feel about them as a result.

It's all good man. She was a bit of both, but it was up to the reader to wonder along with Chucky what her deal was. Just like people we meet in real life who are a bit...off, there will be characters here who we really never figure out. I've based a lot of this comic off my college and life experiences. There have been a lot of people, especially females, whom I've met over the years, that have come in and out of my life, and I just never figured out what the fuck was up with them.
This wouldn't be the first time Dave has tried to get personal around Ian, if I recall correctly...

Check out the third panel where Dave is squeezing Ian's hand and the pink hearts are floating around it.

I absolutely love how Ian's *immediate* reaction is to slam his foot against Chucky's oncoming chair with the "WTF?!" expression all over his face, and Chucky's immediate reaction (and fluffed up tail) is like "WAIT, WHAT?!"
In regards to Dave fondling Ian's hand way back in the first couple chapters of the comic, Ian did not reciprocate the amorous intentions/signals Dave was putting out. In fact if I recall, he told Dave he would die a very slow death for even insinuating anything from holding hands in the orientation.
Gonna hope Dave doesn't do something even more stupid than this little stunt, or he could find himself in a LOT more verbal trouble than he bargained for XD

Though Dave seemed verily like he was joking at that particular time, the amorous intentions didn't go unnoticed by Ian. In fact, I think Ian's grin is my favourite in that old page - the type of grin that speaks volumes in its simplicity. As in "Boy, you're on thin ice and I have a circular saw!" XD
This stunt may or may not have the desired results Dave is aiming for. Can't wait to see the aftermath of this page.
Oh Dave, what have you done? *snrks*
