Manufacturers name, not the one its known to by its operators.
I would rather call the version I use most often "L-86A2" than the "civvie" name, as mentioned above, the 'original SA-80' name was tarnished by its woeful performance when first introduced. MoD would rather forget that mess, though the time is coming for its replacement...

Not really that, the weapons themselves are starting to wear out at a rather interesting rate... and check out a picture of the current front-line version of the 'A2, barely recognisable. I expect the usual MoD muck up and dithering though, the old '85 is gonna be with us for some time c:
I'm not military, but I really enjoy shooting my iwi tavor. And I agree with the statement wondering why more forces aren't using bull pup configuration rifles. Specially given the urban combat that's being seen more and more.
Overall when shouldered the muzzle is closer in than when I'm Shooting a pistol, which in combat gives you a smaller profile, and it can quickly go from engaging targets at point blank range to lighting up targets at 300+ yards.

Yeah, $1700 USD for the gun, then I put Eotech EXPS3-2 and G-33 magnifier on it to the tune of $1200 USD.... Lot of $$$$ to punch holes in paper! Should have stuck with my Glocks!
Sexy as hell tho, and over 1k rounds thru it now without a hitch. It's even eaten cheap crap ammo with no problem.
I'm wanting to take it to Texas for a pig hunt maybe next year, it'd be as great gun for getting some pork to put on the smoker!!!!!!
