Lately, I've been seeing far too many comments on youtube, twitter, newsites, videos from Noah Antwiler and I got to say I'm pretty disgusted by this behavior. I read someone say George Lucas and others like him deserve these threats and don't have a right to be disillusioned about the fans of their work, as well as the joy of working things they wanted to do. And I thought that that was the most horrible thing I've read in my life. Because at least with religious fanatics it's clear they are tricked into believing this or think that it serves a higher purpose. But what does threatening creators just because you don't a like a movie or two they made say about you?
Just because someone disagrees with you, or does something you don't like, it does not give you the right to threaten them with violence. Recently, the game I really wanted to play, Final Fantasy XV has been announced to drop most of the story from it's original version of Versus XIII AND its lead heroine and while I'm upset by that, I absolute would not threaten Hajime Tabata for what essentially feels like he's taking a dump in what Tetsuya Nomura was trying to do. He's only doing his job and admits that he doesn't wish to remove stuff, but he does have deadlines to consider and I still am going to buy the game and support it despite that. That's what true fans should do. They shouldn't get upset that Sonic's arms are blue in a new continuity that doesn't change the main universe Sonic. You can say that they suck, because you're entitled to that opinion, but if your opinion is that these people are horrible and deserve to die, then I have to ask again. What does that really say about you?
(And no, do not tell me about how Noah Antwiler doesn't condone death threats, I already know the whole thing was a joke. However, it was still a terrible joke and it worked best as the punchline to my own. Please do not take this to mean I think Antwiler is a horrible person, I do not know him and while I don't agree with him, he is entirely free to spread his own views just as I am. And hell, I named this after Highlander 2 just as a more friendly jab at him. Death threats are the major exception, since it's against the law to threaten someone like that and most are absolutely serious about it.)

Here's the thing, in such a technological erra, death threats are abundant because of the anonymity of the internet. Does that mean it's acceptable? HELL NO. People feel like becaues they're using a keyboard, and have a screen infront of them, that their actions are not only without consequence, but have no impact on others. Fact is, your actions have both.
It doesn't matter. You missed my point that if you send death threats, it doesn't matter the anonymity of the internet. You are still threatening violence on someone for what shouldn't affect you.
In fact, it's worse, because those who use the anonymity of the internet to troll and bully people to the point where they retire or commit suicide are still horrible people and deserve to be called out. If they were to do this outside of the internet, they'd still be doing something that morally wrong and illegal. Sending terroristic threats IS a felony. And using the anonymity of the internet to make sure you get out of the consequences of your actions is still just that, getting out of the consequences of your actions.

And they deserve to be called out on it. They deserve to be told they have gone too far. Their actions DO have consequences and impact on people. There are people that have committed suicide because of cyber bullying. Because someone stalked and harassed and threatened them on the internet. The fact is that saying it has no impact is incorrect because it does have an impact. Bullying is still bullying, harassment is still harassment and no matter what, someone always ends up hurt.
Sorry about my delay but man, if anyone missed the point of someone elses message, you missed a crutial part of mine. "Does that make it okay? HELL NO" I'm agreeing with you. Those bastards need to grow up and realise, the world does NOT revolve around them, and they should look the other way when something that has no real impact on them upsets them. If a content creator you enjoy takes a different route with what they do, and you don't like it, well tough shit you're not the content creator so you cant decide what he's going to do. And making a death threat, harrasing someone over that sort of shit just disgusts me like you wouldn't believe.
And what I said was; THEY think their actions have neither consequence nor impact, when in reality, it has both.

James Gunn addressed this when all that hate was directed at Joss Whedon on Twitter, following the release of Age of Ultron. He said it best in his posts "Most of you are aware of this, but anyone who urges a filmmaker to kill himself over a movie plot point needs to seriously examine his life." Couldn't agree more.
